Moses died aged 120 years.

To the very end he continued to exhort his people. Jesus continued to teach even when he was dying on the cross.

Moses saw the promised land. Jesus saw Paradise. He told the thief on the cross he would be with Jesus in Paradise. He told his disciples he was going to prepare a place for them.

Moses’ sin was dealt with before he died. His sin was he failed to hallow God (Numbers 20:7-13). Jesus dealt with our sins before he died. He gave his life as our substitute. Do not carry your baggage into heaven.

Moses had assurance that God’s promises to the patriarchs would be fulfilled (Deut. 34:4). Jesus was assured the work of salvation would be accomplished. He said, “It is finished.”

Moses prepared for a successor. Joshua accompanied him and was given leadership of Israel. Jesus prepared disciples to continue his work – to preach the gospel throughout the world.

Moses was commended (Deut.34:10-12). There had not been a prophet like him. Jesus was commended ... “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”

Summarizing, we see that through his life Moses was forgiven, faithful and fruitful.

Forgiven, for it is certain he was with Jesus, cleansed from his sins.

Faithful, for he kept to his earthly task to lead Israel out of Egypt to the promised land.

Fruitful, for the Israelites did in fact enter Canaan – the fruit Of Moses’ labours.

Follow Jesus today. Live a life that is forgiven, faithful and fruitful.
