There Is a Prophet in Israel: The Testimony of a Young Girl (2 Kings 5:1-6)

A young girl was abducted from Israel by a marauding band of Syrians and taken as a servant to the household of Naaman. Naaman was a leper. His disease was incurable.
Observe how this girl responded to Naaman’s plight. She conveyed to Naaman that there was a prophet in her land of Israel who could heal him.
She knew her God. She was brought up as a daughter of Israel and kept her faith even though she was in a foreign land. True believers remain true even in adversity.
She did not hate God. Despite her abduction she held no grudge against God. Some people begin by loving God but sadly end up hating God.
Neither did she have a grudge against Naaman. Doubtless she had moments of sadness and tears but her attitude showed she did not have a grudge against Naaman.
She desired what was good for Naaman. In this she foreshadowed the teaching of Christ Jesus (Luke 6:27-28; 35-36).
How could this young girl respond in the way she did?
It was because she was possessed by the spirit of Christ. She was elevated beyond the natural and could do beyond what was natural.
Be encouraged. In your difficult moments, when you feel the stress of life, Jesus can lift you up to do beyond what you can ask or think.
From this account of the young girl we learn what kind of person God uses.
God uses people who have suffered much. This girl suffered. Jesus suffered. Joseph suffered. God uses people who have suffered.
God uses people who are of the least significance. This girl was an unknown. She was insignificant. But God used her. Jesus was insignificant but the Father used him. David was insignificant, looking after sheep, but God took him and he became Israel’s deliverer and king.
God uses people who will speak up for him. The young girl spoke up for the God of Israel. Jesus spoke up for the cause of the heavenly Father. Paul spoke up for the gospel and the Gentile world heard the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In all your trials be like this young girl. Be Christ-like. Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
